Football

Captains practice has started for football, but isn't quite what I thought it would be. It's great practicing and everything, its just our numbers are way smaller than hoped. I know that the kids are busy or vacationing and whatnot, but 1.5 hours a week shouldn't be that hard to obtain to get out to the field with everyone else. We have about 70 kids sign up for football, and you usually expect about 1/3 of them to show up each week for captains practice. I think that is a reasonable percentage. We have had 9 one week and 16 the next week. Hopefully next week we will get 25+.

Summertime...

Summer is now here, and I couldn't be happier. Three months of weightlifting and football stuff, but still having plenty of time for other things. This summer I will be doing volunteer work for a school project. Every Senior needs to record 48 hours of community service throughout their senior year. I am starting during the summer because that is when I will have the most time to give. I decided to help out at the football field. It usually isn't taken care of during the summer until last year when a parent volunteered her time to keep it clean. This year I will be helping her out with lawn care and whatever else needs to be done. This should be a fun experience and is another way to help out the football community as well as the Willow River community.

Not much time left for school

School is almost over, about 3 weeks left. It is a great time for everyone. Everybody gets the summer to recoup and get ready for the next school year. The seniors graduate and leave to pursue a college of their choice. The sad part is that most of them won't last more than a year. They head off to colleges that aren't suited for them, and end up giving up totally. Others will find out how much work it takes and quit while others just aren't that bright to stay in college, at least the one they chose. I hope not to fall into the category of a college dropout. I will hopefully go to a 2 year community college to play a little football. Then I'll transfer to a bigger college to get advanced knowledge in my field of choice. After that I'll continue on to get a better degree.

BZFlag

I have found a free download for BZFlag version 2.0.8
I would like to thank Tim Riker and David Trowbridge for making this awesome game. I will try to set up a time for my buds to hop on and play, you'll probably need high speed internet to play. Most groups want no lag, but i believe it is a choice to set it up that way or not. I wouldn't care too much about a sec or two of lag.

Weightlifting

The weight room at school is starting to fill up with more people. With baseball and track underway, kids have a reason to stay after school a little longer and lift. Most kids in there are starting out and need a little help with lifting form or what lifts they should do. Some of the more experienced kids don't lift as much as they should or as hard as they should. They have a great opportunity to start Varsity and get the team back to State if the would put forth a little more effort.

New iPod

I got a new ipod today thanks to my parents. My other ones' battery died, and it was just easier to get a new ipod than a new battery. This one is a nano, blue, and small. I also got an armband for it for when I lift weights. It should work quite nicely. My family also gets another couch today, thats pretty cool. Should be a good sitting couch.

Super Bowl Predictions...

The super bowl is a little over a week away, and everybody is excited.
I think that the Bears should be able to pull out a win, but not by much. Both the Colts and the Bears defense's are doing fairly well, all that should matter will be the quarterbacks. Manning will start out shaky but will fall into his natural habits and tear it up. As long as Grossman doesn't turn the ball over and completes at least 50% of his passes, the Bears will be in good shape. I think that Manning will be the next Dan Marino, a great career but no super bowl ring. The final score will be close, Bears 27 Colts 20.
